Fielding, Kenneth
As Morton McGoldrick’s senior counsel, Ken adds the strength of his solid three-decade career to the team.
He’s been with the firm since 1973. In fact, it’s the first firm for which he ever worked – and the only one.
Why did he choose Morton McGoldrick?
“The interviews I had with other firms up in Seattle were all about high expectations, the assumption of overly long hours and an overworked schedule,” he says. “But to me, there’s always a line that we’re supposed to have between our professional life and our personal life, which lets us achieve a balance.”
And Morton McGoldrick allows its lawyers to have that balance, he says. Which in the long run makes them much better - and much happier - lawyers.
Now, although he’s not taking on new caseloads, Ken offers Morton McGoldrick a wealth of knowledge about insurance defense and commercial and personal injury litigation. From earning his B.A. cum laude and a J.D. with honors from the University of Washington to writing for the Gozaga Law Review, his career has taken him through U.S. District Court in the Western District of Washington, U.S. Tax Court, and the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. He also holds memberships with the American Bar Association, the Washington State Bar Association, and the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association.
Outside of law, he brings his love of baseball to the region’s high-school fields with his continuing commitment to umpiring for high school teams around Puget Sound. Other sports Ken tucks in around baseball are skiing, snowboarding, and cycling - and he’s also an expert windsurfer.
In his opinion, what does it take to be a good lawyer?
“Hard work, and intelligence,” he says.
The very things that have been the basis for his own successful career.
