Cochran, Marc H.
Don’t let Marc Cochran’s focused, reserved exterior fool you.
This 27-year Morton McGoldrick veteran plays drums in a rock band. And rides a Harley. A Fatboy. When he’s not practicing or promoting law around Puget Sound, that is. Or hanging out with his family.
First, though, the basics. Marc’s specialty is estate planning, which takes up 60% to 70% of his cases. However, he’s also top-notch at handling wills and trusts; probate and tax laws; pensions and profit-sharing; and corporations and securities.
“I take on a variety of interesting work,” he says. “And my clients are from a very broad base. Many are small business owners, but there are also a diversity of individuals throughout the region.”
His training came from the University of Washington, where he earned his BA in Political Science; and the University of Santa Clara, where he earned his law degree.
He also has an LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University, and was on the Santa Clara Law Review. And he’s a member of the Washington State and Tacoma—Pierce County Bar associations.
Yet, still there’s more: In addition to frequently speaking at estate-planning seminars, Marc is a past member of the Tacoma Estate Planning Council. He also taught estate and gift tax at Pierce College for eight years, and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington.
And, wait – he’s an author, too, whose publications include “The Underwriter and Attorney Estate Planning Team” as well as articles for the Santa Clara Law Review and Puget Sound Life Underwriters Journal.
Now, back to the fun stuff – the band is the Guitarbequtioners who frequently play rock tunes at a neighborhood festival in Tacoma.
And that Fatboy Harley? Look for him catching the wind along the back roads of the South Sound … in between drum solos.
